Along the way, we shot some awesome footage, and got to soak in one of Kansas most beautiful natural geological features: Rock City. We enjoyed Rock City so much, we may go back to shoot there!

Noted author films project to raise the financial literacy of people everywhere
LENEXA, KS - Robert Kiyosaki, acclaimed author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad, whose perspectives on money and investing are either hated or heralded, will be visiting the KC metro area during the last week of March to complete an HD video program on his core message. This new video product will be utilized by the Rich Dad Company in its work throughout the world.

The project, entitled “Shooting the Eight Sacred Cows of Money,” outlines eight “obsolete” mantras of money and asserts that people who believe in these principles are the ones who are currently in financial crisis. It is being produced at the Lenexa-based studios of Outpost Worldwide.

Kiyosaki has earned a reputation for straight talk, irreverence and courage, which is what initially drew Kansas City- based director, producer and entrepreneur Michael Wunsch to him. “I attended several of his financial workshops a few years ago and they were amazing,” said Wunsch. “But in addition to coming out of them with great ideas for our business and my personal financial plan, I actually had an idea about how to position Kiyosaki in the video information age.” Along with strategic production partners from LA, Wunsch approached Kiyosaki during one of his workshops with his idea and the rest, as they say, is history.

Wunsch’s company, Outpost Worldwide, and Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Company now have several financial education projects in development. After the “Sacred Cows” project is complete, Outpost will resume production on Kiyosaki’s, global documentary “An Unfair Advantage.” Being billed as a documentary on financial education, Kiyosaki and Outpost plan to complete the HD film in late 2010. “I truly believe that ‘An Unfair Advantage’ will have the same appeal that Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth‘ or even Spurlock’s ‘Super Size Me’ had on the general public” said Wunsch. “Robert’s perspectives on money and investing fly in the face of conventional wisdom. He has challenged and changed the way millions of people think about money – including me.”

These types of projects are not foreign to Outpost. Their programming track record includes hundreds of hours of finished production for Fremantle Media, a multi-national entertainment giant that owns
American Idol, The Price is Right and dozens of other signature programs worldwide. This includes production services for over thirty hours of network drama for the NBC sister-network, Telemundo, and more than six hundred episodes of Family Feud for U.S. Spanish television on TeleFutura.

Outpost Worldwide is currently in production with another national-level entrepreneur, Henry Bloch, producing the legacy documentary for the UMKC Bloch School of Business.

Outpost Worldwide, in conjunction with RGL Entertainment and the Rich Dad Company, is actively in production on an HD video series with best-selling author Robert Kiyosaki. Kiyosaki’s book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide and is the number one best-selling personal finance book of all time. Now RGL/Outpost Worldwide is helping to deliver the core of the book’s message via the power of cinematic quality HD video. To date, production has included locations in New York City, Honolulu, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Mexico.

Kiyosaki’s message captures an international audience. Economy, finance and money are truly topics of global interest, especially in light of current economic issues. As stated by Kiyosaki, “These are the worst of times and the best of times.” The core of one’s viewpoint on one’s financial life is grounded in one’s level of financial education and knowledge. As heralded by the Rich Dad companies, “Knowledge is the new money.”

Outpost Worldwide is excited to be creating digital video assets on such a current, critical and global subject as finance and the economy. To be working with Robert Kiyosaki on a project with such a meaningful and worthwhile mission is a true honor and tremendous responsibility. This is one of those projects that you know will have lasting impact, and not only entertain, but really educate and inspire people in their financial lives. Unlike many doom and gloom messages, or finger-pointing productions, at the core of this project are solutions. Solutions grounded in building your financial education.

I truly believe that this is one of the best equipped and production-ready studios in the region.

Our sound-proof 2,000 square foot studio is equipped with a 15′ 8″ industry standard lighting grid, 55’ curtain on curtain track, full 48 channel dimmer system with control board, 3 wall cyclorama, 800 amp power and a drive-in garage entrance.

Wireless internet and an attached green room with a separate dressing area make shooting in our studio comfortable and convenient.

We are trying to keep half of the studio chroma key green and half of the studio TV white to accommodate a variety of shooting styles and looks. Because Outpost Worldwide houses a huge inventory of lighting instruments, grip equipment, broadcast HD monitors, teleprompter, cameras, and audio support etc., when you enter our complex you never need to worry if you overlooked any of your equipment needs. Just walk in, fire up the dimmers, and you are ready to shoot. Give us a call for a tour. We’d love to show you around.

This week held many surprises for Outpost as we were introduced to Molly and Carter, Titanic’s newest ambassadors. These pups were absolutely adorable, trained to behave in front of the camera and an absolute joy to watch. Outpost Worldwide went to Branson to shoot the dogs in their new home, the Titanic Museum. In the new spot, the dogs will be talking, so care was given to get the most appropriate shots of Molly and Carter for the SFX Department to work on.

The shoot went really well, as you can tell in the video. We had plenty of settings and props within the museum to choose from. We also had plenty of lights and crew to keep moving. From the lifeboats to the Promenade and Bridge, over to the First Class Cabin, we ended the shoot at the Grand Staircase, probably Titanic’s most recognizable feature. Very appropriate. And of course, the dogs needed a little nap while we were shooting!

Stay tuned for the spot to be finished. Molly and Carter will be talking in no time!

The Barber’s Diaries – The inspiration for creative programming and curriculum development, celebrating the achievements of remarkable “ordinary” citizens who have embodied the fabric and spirit of America.

The Barber’s Diaries is the true story of one black man’s journey in America, from the 1920s through the 1970s. A story about perseverance, commitment, family, education, and faith. Working as the sole barber in a time before the Great Depression – surrounded by racial violence in the Midwest and South – Charles Everett Ellis lived with his wife and seven children. They were the only black family in an all-white town. As the town barber, Ellis was a valuable yet low-paid asset in the white community.

Ellis cut the hair and shaved the faces of businessmen, traveling salesmen and farmers as he had done since the age of 15. He worked silently while they talked, about crops, the weather, community events, politics, and, no doubt, about race issues. In order to survive, he never openly expressed his thoughts. He was an invisible “necessity” to the whites.

In 1927, at age 40, Ellis made the decision to bring purpose to each day of his life, and to express his voice in a different way. He began writing a diary. At the same time, Ellis chose a path of higher education, to become a self-taught scholar and intellectual by reading every book he could acquire.

In his diaries, Ellis wrote about his quest for knowledge, faith, about his family, and the challenges of the world around him. On issues of racial tension, he wrote of teaching his family where to hide and how to walk through the town, without being noticed.

He would write for the remainder of his life. When he passed away in 1971 at the age of 84, his diaries contained more than 2,650 pages in six volumes spanning world events, his family, civil rights, and his own philosophical journey. In the diaries of Charles Everett Ellis, one sees and feels an American life that inspires the heart, encourages the soul and embodies the human spirit.

In the greater vision, The Barber’s Diaries is a catalyst for storytelling, sharing, and discovery of many other lives within the black American culture that have never been heard. The diaries are a platform to learn about, study and be inspired by the “real” stories of extra “ordinary” people who have helped to enrich and shape a nation.

We encourage involvement to help make this project a reality, a celebration of diversity and of humanity that will reach out to embrace us all. The recent discovery of this literary treasure is the foundation for a comprehensive program of television content, educational curriculum, and limitless online opportunities for sharing and discussion.

To learn more about becoming involved in The Barber’s Diaries, contact Michael Wunsch, CEO of Outpost Worldwide or David Henderson, Executive Producer david@davidhenderson.com. We are seeking co-production partners in the corporate, television and educational markets to participate in this important project. This is a series with significant merit and value. Today, it’s timely and highly relevant to America’s new direction.

Is your business outside of Kansas City, or are you with a local company who needs to have your production shot outside the area? Whether it’s right in the heart or KC, or a continent away, Outpost Worldwide can be your production company. In fact, about 85% of our shooting is conducted outside of our immediate area, so ‘traveling production’ is nothing new for us.

We have production trucks ready to roll with all necessary gear, or we can grab the camera and hop on a plane to head to your location. And most importantly for you, we do not bill for travel time. Wherever we shoot, we are ‘paid like a local,’ which is easier on your budget.

And because we are an affordable traveling option, you can stick with the same crew you’re used to throughout your production. You’ll get the same quality every time!

So next time you need a shoot done in a far away place, or maybe not so far…think of Outpost Worldwide. We have shot on six continents, and counting…

Come see what we’re saving for you.

These are the words that greet you as you walk into the National Archives at Kansas City. And boy, are they saving a lot! We recently did some shooting at the National Archives for a marketing video and were blown away by the federal records and photographs that are being saved right here in Kansas City! Stacks and stacks of records covering everything from war registration cards to Indian records to Leavenworth case files are waiting for you to uncover the stories that lie within them. Even Walt Disney’s bankruptcy records are here in Kansas City where his first company, Laugh-O-Gram Films, Inc. was created and the inspiration for Mickey Mouse was born.

After spending a day at the Archives I think every person on our crew wants to return in order to do some researching of our own. Did you know you it’s FREE to do research at the Archives? That includes access to ancestry.com as well as other websites. It’s free because all of the records in the Archives belong to the American people. It’s stories of OUR history, waiting to be discovered.

When you have some free time, go check out the National Archives at Kansas City. It’s right next to Union Station and the staff is more than willing to help you with your search. Tell them Outpost sent ya!
