Last Ounce Of Courage Premiere
WRITTEN BY BRIAN MCCAULEY of The Miami County Republic
Paola residents got a chance to see familiar businesses, restaurants, landmarks — even themselves — on the big screen Sunday (June 14, 2009) during three special showings of the movie “Last Ounce of Courage.”
The film, which was shot in Paola last summer, is a holiday-themed Christian movie about a small-town mayor who is fed up with the political correctness of Christmas. The lead role of Mayor Bob Revere was played by actor Marshall Teague of such films as “Armageddon” and “The Rock.”
Although the film has not yet been released to the public, Paola residents got a chance to view it early because much of the movie was filmed in their town.
Michael Wunsch, CEO of Outpost Worldwide of Lenexa, spoke before the showings, and he told the people packed into the Paola Community Center auditorium Sunday that they are the first people in the country to see the movie — and possibly the last in its current format. Wunsch, whose company produced the film, said it currently is being shopped to Sony Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), either of which could purchase the movie and do their own editing to scenes, music and other features. Outpost Worldwide is proud to announce that the WWII documentary ‘Let Freedom Ring: The Lesson is Priceless‘ has been accepted into the 2009 GI Film Festival, May 13-17 in Washington D.C. The educational film will play on Sunday, May 17th at 9:00 am in the Main Theater of the Carnegie Institute of Washington. The festival, which takes place during Armed Forces Weekend, is the first film festival in the nation to exclusively celebrate the American military through film. The GIFF is open to all filmmakers, and presents films from international and domestic filmmakers that highlight the US Military.
Three years ago, Outpost Worldwide and WWII veteran George Ciampa set out on an educational journey to witness the return of five veterans to Belgium, and the site of the ‘Battle of the Bulge’. Accompanied by four young Southern California high school teachers, the veterans recounted their memories of the Battle, and visited many present-day Belgians who could vividly remember their loss of freedom under Nazi Germany occupation. ‘Let Freedom Ring: Memories of France’ is the next chapter in this growing documentary series, and gives teachers an opportunity to interact with those who survived the war and Nazi occupation.
Outpost: The Silent Production Partner 4 – LOOC
In 2007, Outpost Worldwide had the pleasure of meeting and working with Richard and Gina Headrick of Laurel, Mississippi. The Headricks, sign makers and missionaries by trade, had developed a script with the expertise of Disney writer and director, Darrell Campbell. From this relationship was born, Last Ounce of Courage.
The Story begins with Christmas under attack. The true celebration of Christ’s birth has been lost in a sea of tolerance and apathy.
Bob Revere, a decorated veteran and mayor, reconnects with his past when his alienated grandson, Chris, moves back to town. Through the discovery of a series of video diaries found in a footlocker, Chris wrestles with understanding the supreme sacrifice that his father Thomas made fighting for their freedom. Even more poignantly, realizing that their own freedoms have been slipping away, Bob and Chris question that while Thomas died fighting for their freedom, what are they doing now? What can one grandpa do? [Read More]
